Burkert 2/2 way solenoid valve (type 6281) with G 3/4 inch threads and a 230 V AC/DC coil. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed (voltage = open). The valve is indirect operating, so a small differential pressure required. Suitable for max media temperatures of 100 °C (212 °F) and a pressure range of 0.2 - 16 bar (3 - 232 psi). Housing of brass with EPDM sealing and a 13 mm orifice. The Kv-value is 3.8 m3/h (63.35 l/min at dp = 1 bar water). Low risk of water hammer thanks to dampened closing. Suitable for drinking water. This solenoid valve is ATEX and IECEx certified.

Note: DIN connector not included.

This is a Burkert indirect operating 2/2 way solenoid valve with G 3/4 inch threads and a 230 V AC/DC coil. The valve has a brass housing with EPDM sealing and an orifice size of 13 mm. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed, which means the valve opens when voltage is applied. Suitable for a pressure of 0.2 - 16 bar (3 - 232 psi) and a maximum temperature of 100 °C (212 °F). The valve has a Kv-value of 3.8 m3/h, this translates to a flow rate of 63 l/min at a differential pressure of 1 bar (for water). In imperial units: Cv = 4, which means 4 GPM @ 1 psi pressure drop. For many applications it is enough to select a valve based on the thread size and orifice diameter. For more accurate sizing, use the Kv-value with our easy to use valve sizing calculator. The brass housing is durable, suitable for neutral fluids and resistant to many chemicals. The EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) sealing is suited for neutral fluids and many chemicals, but it has poor resistance to oils and fats. Please note that the internal valve parts, such as the stainless steel plunger and springs, are also in contact with the medium and must be chemically compatible. Consult our chemical resistance chart to verify compatibility of housing and seals with the medium. The valve's design prevents water hammering. The valve is KTW-W270 certified for drinking water. Thanks to the ATEX and IECEx certification, this solenoid valve is suited for explosive environments. The valve has an IP65 rating if properly connected.

Pros:

  • This valve satisfies all European drinking water requirements
  • ATEX-certified
  • Good protection against the environment thanks to the IP65 rating
  • Type 6281 is ideal for larger flows
  • Solenoid valves open and close very fast compared to many other valve types
  • A damped design ensures reduced noise levels
  • Low risk on water hammer, thanks to the dampened closing

Cons:

  • Not suited for low pressure differentials (< 0.2 bar). In case of low pressure or a vacuum, consider a (semi-)direct solenoid valve
  • Solenoid valves are very sensitive to dirt and can only be used with clean liquids and gases
  • The coil may get hot when energized. A well ventilated environment is recommended

Series:

The Bürkert 6281 valve is an indirect operated solenoid valve of the S.EV series. To open and close, the valve features a large flexible rubber membrane. The pressure difference over the inlet and outlet ports is used to move the membrane up and down. A minimal pressure differential is always required. Thanks to the special design of the membrane and valve seat, the valve operates quietly. The brass housing satisfies all European drinking water requirements. The 6281 series offers various options, including different housing materials, ATEX versions, and a manual override feature.
