FKM is a high performance compound and is resistant to many high temperature chemicals. It is suitable for vacuum applications and resistant to oils, grease and fuels.
Pros:
- Good resistance to oils and solvents such as aliphatic, aromatic and halocarbons, acids, animal and vegetable oils
- Suitable for temperatures from -15 to 200°C (5 to 392°F)
- Good mechanical properties, resistant to compression set
- Conforms to DIN 3771, ISO 3601-1, JIS 240 P+G, SMS 1586, BS 1806/AS 568 A, BS 4518
Cons:
- Poor resistance to hot water and steam
- Unsuitable for polar solvents, certain esters and ethers, glycol based brake fluid
