Ball Valves (ISO-Top)
Explore Tameson’s wide range of ISO-top brass ball valves from various global manufacturers. ISO-top brass ball valves have a standardized flange according to ISO 5211 to mount an electric or pneumatic actuator. Due to this standardization, different brands/types of actuators can be used to drive the valve. There are various flange sizes in the ISO 5211 standard, such as F03, F04, and F05. Ensure that the actuator uses the same flange size and diameter as the drive shaft.
The 2-way function of an ISO ball valve means it has two ports, an inlet and an outlet, and a ball with a bore in it. The brass housing and simple design of 2-way ball valves are known for their easy operation, reliability, long service life, and wide range of applications. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc and has great mechanical properties. These ball valves are durable, with very less leakage over their lifespan, even if they have not been used for a long period of time. 2-way brass ball valves can be used with drinking water, gas, mineral oils, compressed air, and many other non-aggressive media. But they are not suitable for use with salt water or distilled water due to the risk of dezincification. Dezincification reduces the mechanical strength of brass by causing the zinc to be removed from the alloy resulting in a porous structure. However, brass ball valves are more resistant to contaminated media compared to other types of housing material and provides reliable sealing even in the case of dirty media. They can withstand high pressure, high temperature, and high flow rates. They are also economical due to their simple and robust design, low cost, and low maintenance needs. Due to these advantages, ISO-top brass ball valves are used in many residential and industrial applications.
