Bürkert S030 inline paddle wheel sensor fittings for SE30, SE32 and SE35

The Bürkert S030 is the sensor-fitting half of an inline paddle wheel flow meter. It is a pipe section fitted in the line to hold the paddle wheel in the flow, in stainless steel, brass, PVC, PP, or PVDF to match the liquid and the line. On its own it does not measure anything: an SE30, SE32, or SE35 transmitter on the bayonet seat on top turns the wheel's pulses into a reading. Order an S030 with one of those transmitters to make a working meter. It suits clean, low-viscosity liquids only, because solids or fibers foul the wheel.

Matching the fitting to the line

Choose the S030 by its body material, how it joins the pipe, and the seal. Pick the connection the line uses:

  • Weld end: welded permanently into a metal line
  • Clamp: quick release for lines that are cleaned or stripped down often
  • Inner or outer thread: screws into a threaded port
  • Flanged: bolts to a flanged pipe
  • Solvent socket or true union: for plastic-bodied fittings, bonded or screwed into a plastic line

Match the body material to the liquid and the line: stainless steel or brass for metal pipe, and PVC, PP, or PVDF for plastic pipe and corrosive liquids. Match the seal the same way:

  • EPDM: water, hot water, and water-based liquids
  • FKM: oils, fuels, and many chemicals

A 3.1 material certificate, which traces the steel to its mill batch, is available on most versions when documented material is needed.

Frequently asked questions

Which transmitter fits the S030?

The SE30, SE32, and SE35 all fit the same S030 seat, so the choice depends on the output needed. The same transmitters also fit the S077 oval-gear fitting, so the electronics can be reused if the line later switches measuring type.

Does the S030 measure flow by itself?

No. The S030 holds the paddle wheel and the wetted parts, but the pulse signal needs an SE transmitter to become a flow reading and an output. Without a transmitter, the fitting cannot drive a display, an alarm, or a control system.

Which seal stands up to clean-in-place cycles?

EPDM suits the hot water and caustic cleaning used in clean-in-place, so it is the common choice on lines cleaned often. FKM, the right seal for oils and fuels, is not suited to hot caustic cleaning, so check the cleaning method before choosing an FKM-sealed S030 for those liquids.
