As it is a throttle valve, it can function as a needle valve as well. By turning the knurled screw, you can adjust the flow at which the air can exit through the silencer. This allows you to control the noise levels, but also by controlling the exit air you can affect the application (for example a pneumatic cylinder piston’s speed for retracting/extending).
