Reference: V3KDQ
Brand: Tameson

This JP Fluid Control modulating electrical actuator is offered in combination with a TamesonPRO 3-way ball valve. It can turn the valve from 0-90 degrees with an operating torque of 40 Nm (higher break torque so please see the manual) in a time of 13 seconds. It requires a supply voltage of 24 V AC/DC, has a duty cycle of S2, and comes with a visual positioning indicator on top of the unit to clearly see valve position. As a modulating actuator, it is equipped with a digital positioning system (DPS) meaning it can position the valve anywhere between 0-90 degrees. It requires a control signal of 4-20 mA (and 0-10V, 2-10V) for positioning.

The stainless steel valve has three G 3/8'' female threaded ports (BSPP 228-1). The valve has a 11 mm bore, with Kv value of 3.57 m3/h (Cv = 4.1 gpm). Kv expresses the flow rate of water in m3/h at a pressure drop of one bar. The valve is rated up to 69 bar at 20°C (1000 psi at 68°F). It is suitable for temperatures from -29°C up to 150°C (-20°F up to 302°F). The valve is suitable for water, steam, oil, compressed air, fuels, solvents and aggressive media. With the actuator`s durable polyamide (PA) housing, it gives the unit a protection of IP67 for an environment temperature of -10°C till 50°C (14°F till 122°F).

Before connecting the actuator, please read the manual carefully.

Pros:

  • It is a modulating actuator with a digital positioning system (DPS) to position the valve anywhere between 0-90 degrees with a control signal of 4-20 mA
  • It has a robust IP67 housing
  • It has a clear visual position indicator to see the valve`s state
  • Suitable for aggressive media due to the 316 stainless steel (1.4408/CF8M) housing and ball
  • Max pressure of up to 69 bar at 20°C (1000 psi at 68°F)

Cons:

  • In comparison to a pneumatic actuator of the same size, the operating speed is slower

Applications

This valve can be used in combination with gases and fluids. The valve is durable and suitable for different aggressive and corrosive media. The maximum pressure at room temperature is 69 bar (1000 psi), at higher temperatures the maximum allowed temperature decreases. The direction of pressure is not important, the direction of flow may be in any direction. The temperature range of the medium lies between -29°C to 150°C (-20°F to 302°F). At high temperatures, it is recommended to install the valve in a ventilated area. It is allowed to install the valve in a humid environment provided that all parts, like an appropriate electrical cable, are correctly fixed. Some examples of applications for this valve are HVAC, irrigation, industrial automation, water management.

Electrical Wiring Diagram

Follow the safety instructions and manual before you start installation.

The actuator features a 10-terminal wiring system split between essential power and optional feedback functions. For basic operation, Terminals 1, 2, and 3 provide a ground and a 24V AC/DC power supply with automatic voltage detection. Terminals 4 and 5 receive a modulating input signal, which is set to 4-20 mA by default but can be configured to 0-10V or 2-10V. For remote monitoring, Terminals 6 and 7 provide a continuous position feedback signal, typically 4-20 mA. External voltage must never be applied to these feedback pins to avoid permanent damage. Finally, Terminals 8, 9, and 10 use a common source to provide discrete "Open" or "Closed" status confirmations via limit switches.

Assembly

Make sure that the position of the ball and the actuator are properly set before assembly. The actuator is provided with two adapters to connect the actuator to the valve shaft. Mount the actuator to the valve with the provided bolts. There should be no play between both flange. Use our fittings range for the connection between the pipe and the valve.

Note: This product is delivered in separate parts, but with the required mounting accessories.
