3-Way Electric Ball Valves
Explore Tameson's wide range of 3-way electric ball valves from leading global manufacturers. Also known as 3-way motorized ball valves, they consist of two main components: an electric actuator and a ball valve. The actuator connects directly to the valve stem and rotates the ball 90° (a quarter turn) to control the flow of media - liquids or gases - through the valve's three ports.
A 3-way electric ball valve has three ports and a ball with a bore that controls how media flows between them. Two bore designs are available: L-port and T-port, named after the shape of the flow path inside the ball.
A T-port valve can mix media from two inlets into one outlet, or distribute one inlet to two outlets. An L-port valve redirects flow rather than mixing it - for example, connecting one of two tank inputs to a single outlet, so you always have output flow but can choose which tank supplies it. Because the actuator only rotates 90°, electric L-port and T-port valves switch only between two positions. Because port connections differ between designs, always check the bore design to get the flow pattern you need.
These 3-way electric ball valves can be controlled remotely to switch between circuits, making them a practical way to automate flow control where electrical power is already available. They're also available in a range of housing materials - such as brass, PVC, and stainless steel - to suit different media, pressures, and environments.
In HVAC systems, 3-way electric ball valves are often used as zone valves, mixing or diverting flow between circuits to improve energy efficiency and climate control.
