Bailey Low pressure sodium vapor lamp - 144293
SOX lamps are often used in traditional (street) lanterns or other characteristic fixtures that are often found in city centres. In many of these fixtures, there is the calm, orange-like light (also known as sodium light).
How do SOX lamps work: SOX lamps are driven by a ballast and sometimes also an igniter and a capacitor. If you use a conventional ballast (Philips BSX Constant), you also need an igniter (Philips SX) and a capacitor. It may also be that an electronic (high-frequency) ballast is used (Philips EXC). In that case, an igniter and a capacitor are not needed.
