The device operates on an optical principle and is especially effective for early detection of indoor smoldering fires with smoke development. Despite its elegant design, the detector is capable of emitting a loud 85-decibel alarm in response to the slightest smoke emanating from smoldering fires and flames. The detector can be wirelessly connected with up to 20 other detectors for added safety, with all detectors in the network sounding an alarm if one does.
