The inner and outer ring raceways of these bearings are offset from each other in the direction of their axis. As a result, these bearings are designed to support both radial and axial loads simultaneously.

Single row angular contact ball bearings are suitable for axial loads in one direction only. Bearings of this type are usually adjusted against a second bearing. The bearing rings are composed of an upper and a lower shoulder and cannot be separated.
