Shock Absorber Impact Heads

Impact heads screw onto the piston rod of a pneumatic shock absorber and present a hardened striking face to the moving mass. They spread the impact over a defined contact area, protect the rod tip, and standardise the contact geometry.

Without an impact head, the moving mass strikes the bare piston rod directly. A point or off-axis hit can mar the rod, drive contamination past the rod seal, and shorten absorber life. The head accepts that damage instead and is replaceable on its own.

Flat-faced heads suit parallel-faced loads. Domed heads accept some angular misalignment and are common on swinging arms and pivoting carriers. Heads for miniature absorbers are typically plastic snap-on caps; mid-range and large-bore absorbers use threaded steel caps that take direct heavy impacts.
