View Tameson's range of reducing adapters. A reducer nipple is a short piece of pipe with female threads on one side and male threads on the other. There are reducing adapters (male thread is smaller than the female thread) and reducing rings (male thread is larger than the female thread). These are reducing adapters, so the male thread is smaller than the female thread. It is important to know your media to properly select the right material. Common materials are brass, stainless steel, nickel-plated brass, and PVC.
