Collection: Proportional Valves And Controllers

Explore Tameson’s wide range of proportional valves and controllers from various global manufacturers. A proportional solenoid valve allows a user to accurately control the fluid flow rate with a very fast response, rather than just completely opening or closing the valve. By continuously regulating the fluid flow rate, you can subsequently adjust process parameters, such as fluid level, pressure, and temperature. Proportional control solenoid valves have a slightly different design than standard solenoid valves to enable precise and stable positioning of the plunger. A proportional control valve controls the fluid flow rate by varying the size of the flow passage via a restrictor. In an automatic control valve, the restrictor is directed by a PWM signal from a controller called an actuator. By utilizing a controller designed for usage with proportional solenoid valves, you have greater control, less hysteresis, and the ability for a closed-loop feedback system (depending on controller inputs) compared to other control methods.
There is a wide range of proportional solenoid valves and controllers, with the valves having multiple options for housing and seal materials and varying pressure ratings. When choosing the valve materials, it is important to ensure that the material withstands the media characteristics and that the valve is sized properly from a pressure and Kv (flow rate) standpoint.
