Long Handle Mini Ball Valves

Explore Tameson’s wide range of 2-way female-threaded brass mini ball valves from various global manufacturers. Mini ball valves with longer handles provide easy manual actuation as less force is needed to open or close the valve. A mini ball valve is suitable for applications with limited installation space. These ball valves save space, weight, and money. Female-threaded ball valves have threads on the inside, and they are easy to install. The valve’s connection ports come in BSPP (parallel) versions. The 2-way function means it has two ports, an inlet and an outlet, and a ball with a bore in it. They are operated by a manual hand lever to turn the ball 90 degrees, so they are also called quarter-turn ball valves or shut-off valves. When the handle direction is parallel to the connecting pipe or hose, the ball valve opens and allows media to flow from the inlet through the bore to the outlet. When the handle direction is perpendicular to the connecting pipe or hose, the valve is closed, obstructing the media flow through the valve. This allows for easy visual identification on whether a two-way brass ball valve is open or closed. The brass housing makes the valves suitable for a wide variety of media, such as water, neutral, gaseous, and non-aggressive, liquid media, mineral oils, and compressed air. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc and has great mechanical properties. These ball valves are durable, with very less leakage over their lifespan, even if they have not been used for a long period of time. 2-way brass ball valves can be used with drinking water, gas, mineral oils, compressed air, and many other non-aggressive media. But they are not suitable for use with salt water or distilled water due to the risk of dezincification. Dezincification reduces the mechanical strength of brass by causing the zinc to be removed from the alloy resulting in a porous structure. However, brass ball valves are more resistant to contaminated media compared to other types of housing material and provides reliable sealing even in the case of dirty media. They can withstand high pressure, high temperature, and high flow rates. They are also economical due to their simple and robust design, low cost, and low maintenance needs. Due to these advantages, brass ball valves are used in many residential and industrial applications.
