The ball valve is manufactured from high-grade polypropylene, which is an inert chemical thermoplastic. Polypropylene has high chemical resistance, and the material is suitable for a wide variety of media like water, corrosive media (sea water), most acids and bases, salt solutions, and organic solvents. Polypropylene provides superior chemical resistance and higher temperature resistance than PVC and is a more neutral plastic than PVC. The 2-way function means it has two ports, an inlet and an outlet, and a ball with a bore in it. They are operated by a manual hand lever to turn the ball 90 degrees. The handle is connected directly to the ball through the stem. Simply turn the handle perpendicular to the pipe to close it and parallel to the pipe to open it. This allows for easy visual identification on whether a two-way ball valve is open or closed.
