PVC True Union Ball Valves (Solvent Sockets)
Explore Tameson’s wide range of PVC true union ball valves (solvent sockets) from various global manufacturers. A true union ball valve design allows the centerpiece of the valve (ball valve assembly) to be removed from the full unit while the valve is installed. This is ideal for quick and easy repairs/replacements as the solvent sockets typically adhere into place. Both the input and output ports on this valve have a solvent socket connection. They slide into place (typically on a PVC pipe) and are fixed with the use of a solvent (glue). 2-way PVC ball valves are operated by a manual hand lever to turn the ball 90 degrees, which is why they are often called quarter-turn ball valves or shut-off valves. Simply turn the handle perpendicular to the pipe to close it and parallel to open it. This allows for easy visual identification on whether a two-way ball valve is open or closed.
PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) is lightweight, strong, and durable, giving it long service life. The PVC housing makes these valves suitable for water, corrosive media (seawater), most acids and bases, salt solutions, and organic solvents. The temperature range is from -15 to 60 degree C (5 to 140 degree F), and it has a lower pressure rating when compared to a brass or stainless steel housing.
