The SIMATIC ET 200SP is a BaseUnit BU20-P6+A2+4D, BU type C0, equipped with Push-in terminals as well as 2 AUX terminals. Its introduction brought about a new load group and it measures 20 mmx117 mm. This device is a modular, scalable, and highly flexible distributed I/O system, which is compact enough to fit into small control boxes near the machine. Its modules can either be plugged directly into an ET 200SP CPU or connected to a central controller via PROFINET or PROFIBUS.

This system can be expanded with up to 64 I/O modules which can be inserted in any combination, providing a comprehensive range of modules. There are many modules available with a wide variety of characteristics, which notably improve scalability in terms of functionality and cost.
