This Belimo electrical actuator is designed for controlling quarter turn valves. The actuator delivers a torque of 5 Nm and can open/close the valve in 90 seconds. This actuator requires a supply voltage of 24 V AC/DC and has a visual positioning indicator to clearly see the valve position. The actuator features BACnet IP/Modbus TCP control, enabling versatile communication and interoperability with other systems for streamlined control and monitoring capabilities. The actuator has a durable plastic housing and has an IP40 protection rating. This actuator can operate within ambient temperatures between -30 and 50 °C (-22 and 122 °F). The actuator comes with a 1-meter power cable.

The actuator is equipped with overload protection, doesn't need limit switches, and stops automatically when the end stop is reached. Manual override is possible using a push-button, which disengages the gear train as long as the button is pressed or remains locked. Manual triggering of adaptation can be done by pressing the "Adaptation" button. Both mechanical end stops are detected during the adaptation (entire setting range). The actuator then moves into the position defined by the control signal. It can be directly mounted on the ball valve using a single screw, with the mounting orientation adjustable in 90° increments. The actuator is controlled via the Cloud, BACnet IP, or Modbus TCP and moves to the position defined by the control signal. Various data points can be read and written via the same interfaces. In hybrid mode, it receives its analog control signal from the higher-level controller and moves to the defined position. Various data points, except for the control signal, can still be accessed through the digital interfaces. The rotation angle can be adjusted with mechanical end stops. The recorded data (integrated data recording for 13 months) can be used for analytical purposes, with CSV files downloadable via a web browser. Upon initial power supply (i.e., during commissioning), the actuator performs an adaptation where the operating range and position feedback adjust to the mechanical setting range. It then moves into the position defined by the control signal.

Pros:

  • Manual override
  • The actuator is overload protected
  • Visual position indicator

Cons:

  • The time to open/close of 90 s is slow for some applications
