Proportional PWM controller 12-24V DC (DIN-A) M12 - Burkert 8605 316526

Proportional PWM controller 12-24V DC (DIN-A) M12 - Burkert 8605 316526
Reference: 316526
Brand: Burkert

This Burkert 8605 controller controls proportional solenoid valves that have a coil current rating between 0.5 - 2 A. It requires an input signal (0-5 V, 0-10 V, 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA) and will output a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal to control the valve’s plunger position and orifice opening. It also requires 12 - 24 V DC connected by a M12 plug-in connection point to power the controller. The controller connects to the valve by a DIN-A connection point. It is made out of Polyamide (PA), IP65 certified and comes with an operating unit.
Before connecting the controller to the valve, please read the manual carefully.

This Burkert 8605 controller is used for proportional solenoid valves with a coil current rating between 0.5 - 2 A. To power the controller, it requires a voltage of 12 - 24 V DC that can be connected to the controller by a M12 plug-in connection point. It then connects to the proportional solenoid valve by an EN 175301-803 Type A (shortly DIN-A) connection point. It requires an input signal, which the options are 0-5 V, 0-10 V, 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA as it will then convert this input and output a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal to control the valve’s plunger position. By varying the plunger position and orifice opening, you can alter an output characteristic of the flow (flow rate, temperature, pressure, etc.). It comes with an operating unit that can be used for programming the controller or transferring the parameters from one device to another. It is made out of Polyamide (PA) and is IP65 certified. It also contains software features such as coil heating compensation, parameter selectable inputs, ramp function, and coil current adaption to allow for proper valve operation over its full stroke range. This Burkert controller (316526) is easily used with Burkert proportional solenoid valves (see attachment for complete overview) due to them being tested, proven, and it having the parameters memorized. However, the controller is also suitable to control other brand's valves with manual parameter inputs. The suitable Burkert proportional solenoid valve series for 316526 are:
2863, 2873, 6223 (12 V DC) & 2865, 2875, 6024 (12-24 V DC) & 2836 (24 V DC).

Pros:

  • Allows for better control of a proportional solenoid valve by utilizing a PWM signal
  • Is easily connected to your proportional solenoid valve via the DIN-A connection point
  • It comes with an operating unit that can be used for programming the controller
  • Contains software features such as coil heating compensation, parameter selectable inputs, ramp function, and coil current adaption to allow for proper valve operation over its full stroke range
  • Limits hysteresis and improves sensitivity in controlling the valve compared to a variable DC signal
  • Has all Burkert proportional solenoid valve operating parameters memorized

Cons:

  • Requires proper inputs (either 0-5 V, 0-10 V, 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA) and parameter settings to accurately control the valve
  • The power supply for the controller can only be 12-24 V DC
  • Only works with an open loop system

8605 series

The Burkert Type 8605 is a digital controller used to control proportional solenoid valves within a power range of 40 – 2,000 mA. It converts an external input signal, 0-5 V, 0-10 V, 0-20 mA or 4-20mA, into a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal to control the plunger position of the solenoid valve. This allows a user to vary a parameter of the flow (i.e. flow rate, temperature, etc.) to meet application requirements. The mounting and connection options for this series are either a cable plug (DIN-A with a PG or M12 supply connection) or DIN rail (mounts to DIN rail and has screw terminals). They have software functions to account for ramping up/down, thermal condition of coil, cut-off points, and the ability to upload/download parameters with an operator.
