Pastes

The structure of pastes is similar to that of greases. However, the share of solid lubricants is significantly higher. This ensures reliable lubrication, separation and corrosion protection, also when used under extreme temperature and pressure conditions and with aggressive media. Besides screwed connections, pastes are also used for pressing in pins and bolts and for gear wheels.

Characteristics of pastes:

  • Press-fit test - Determines the lubricating effect of pastes at very high pressures and low slide speeds (relevant for assembly pastes).
  • Thread friction coefficient according to DIN EN ISO 16047 - Specifies a measurement of friction when screws and nuts are tightened (relevant for screw pastes).
  • Breakaway torque according to DIN 267-27 - Ratio of the required breakaway torque when loosening the screwed connection to the tightening torque.
  • Operating temperature - Temperature range of the optimal performance.
