Pneumatic Filters

View our range of filters used to treat air in compressed air systems. Pneumatic air filters remove water, dirt and other harmful debris from an air system. Filters are often the first step in improving air quality. The required air purity will affect the filter selection. For common applications, filters that remove particles between 5 micron and 40 microns are sufficient. This means that they filter all particles larger than their rating, so see your equipment’s specifications on debris size requirement. Choose the correct filter rating; over-specifying leads to a larger pressure drop and extra costs. Under-specifying leads to reduced reliability and life span of your system. Filters always cause a small pressure drop (higher for higher precision filters). This is often the reason that a filter is installed upstream of the pressure regulator.

Filters come with semi-automatic, automatic, or manual drainage. Semi-automatic drainage is recommended for most applications. The drain valve opens as soon as the compressed air is shut off, so if this is doesn’t occur regularly, an automatic drain is preferred. Automatic drain valve use a float and open automatically as soon as the drained volume reaches a certain level. Furthermore, they are recommended if the filter will be installed in a hard to service location. Manual drains are only to be used if the system is frequently depressurized and is in an easy to reach location. However, this can be easily forgotten.
