View our wide range of gas safety valves that are used to relief overpressure in your system. A safety valve vents the medium to prevent pressure build up, hereby increasing the safety of the system. Most safety valves use a spring-principle to open once the set pressure is achieved.

Safety valves have a unique response characteristic. When the systems pressure exceeds more than 10% of the goal pressure, the safety valve opens instantaneously and releases all of the overpressure. This is usually accompanied by a popping sound. When the systems pressure is down to approximately 10 to 20% below the goal pressure, it closes again. This build up and aggressive relief of the systems pressure stresses the system heavily and is only suitable as a last-resort safety measure.

These safety valves are specifically made for gas-based applications and therefore not suitable for systems transporting liquids. Safety valves come in two types, adjustable and non-adjustable. Adjustable safety valves can be manually set to the desired safety pressure. They have varying blow-off capacities as a function of the pressure. Non-adjustable safety valves have a pre-set safety pressure that you buy it at and it can't be changed. They have a predetermined blow-off capacity.

In high-pressure gas systems, it is recommended that the outlet of the safety valve is in the open air. In systems where the outlet is connected to piping, the opening of the safety valve will give a pressure build up in the piping system connected to the outlet of the safety valve.
